Upgrading/upsizing your balloons is another option than can make the ordinary look koriginal and add a different twist to something otherwise common. Here, we have used 16" latex balloons in this decoration instead of the regular 12" balloons...it made a huge difference, pardon the pun, and the balloons stay afloat longer too.
